Kite fishing is a relatively new tactic used in Kingfishing. Using a fishing kite, live baits (usually Blue Runners) are dangled on the surface of the water creating a wounded bait presentation for predatory fish.

The wind conditions will dictate which size kite you will need to use. On calm days, balloons filled with helium can be used to elevate kites. You will also need a conventional reel, a short, stout rod, barrel swivels, and a kite release clip to complete your kite fishing setup.

Kite fishing can be a tedious method but adds a fun new challenge to Kingfishing.
